Below Huelva and above the Gibraltar peninsula, chill out in the province of Cadiz. Named, as is normal in Spain after its main provincial city, the province is proud of the capital that juts into the sea and that is almost completely surrounded by water. The city itself is fantastic. Glitz and Glamour have not affected it, and in parts it is quite seedy which really adds to its no-strings appeal.
Cadiz province itself is worthy of more visits than it receives, although mass tourism in this area will invariably spoil it over time. This aside, many overlook Cadiz as it's the province in the corner of Andalucia. It's often only given merit by the windsurfing and water sports fanatics that flock to this so-called European surfing coast. But what a coast. If the (natural) beach and surf is your thing, this is where you can find it.

In brief, and because you really have to try this one to believe it, Cadiz has a different atmosphere again. There's something very hip about it, and yet the trendsetting has never gone to its head. It's a place to relax, somewhere where those that visit respect it, don't spoil it and maintain its attraction. Could you live there? Not everyone could. But those who can will never want to leave.
